So after reading the script a couple of times i had a few strong images in mind for the some initial ideas.
These images are ones that i have found that resemble what i am thinking at the moment

Just thinking what material i could use that would symbolise woods and trees.
Could also do some work with shadows

This is an example of the opening scene in the palace but instead i would use brighter colours and steer towards a more 50's feel

Some very good ideas...especially seeing your model work. You still have to upload your mood-board.
